Print This Page G8 Conference to Focus on Biofuels
JAPAN - It has been decided that the biofuel policies of wealthy countries is to be the main topic of Japan's G8 conference.World Bank President Robert Zoellick has called for reform of food resources, urging countries to grow more food to feed the hungry, reports Malaysia News.
He laid particular blame on fuels made from corn and rapeseed and said both the US and Europe need to take action to reduce tariffs that benefit grain and oil seed biofuels but take food off the table of millions.
Mr Zoellick urged the G8 to increase food aid and reduce trade barriers on farming products.
