Biogas Promoted as Alternative to LPG
THE PHILIPPINES - According to a local environmentalist, fuel retailers may become pressured once consumers realize the importance of biogas as an alternative to liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).As prices of petroleum products increase every week, consumers are finding ways to spend less, particularly in their purchase of LPG as its prices have gone up from P16.50 to P20 per kilogram.
This situation has urged Ed Guevarra, an anti-global warming advocate, to introduce his innovative "biogas digester", reports ABS-CBN News.
Biogas can be produced through waste materials like human and animal manure and other biodegradable materials with the use of the "digester" that is usually installed underground.
With almost all of the prices of basic commodities increasing recently, Guevarra said, an environmentalist and a consumer like him has no choice but to resort to a more useful and environmental way to spend on energy while still enjoying the usual cooking habit.
