Print This Page HPCL and Chhattisgarh Tie Up in Jatropha Venture
NEW DELHI - State-run Hindustan Petroleum Corp said it has formed a joint venture company with the Chhatisgarh government and Chhatisgarh Renewable Energy Development Agency for jatropha plantation in the state."HPCL has formed a JV company with government of Chhattisgarh and Chhattisgarh Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA) to undertake jatropha plantation in the state," a company release said.
Jatropha tree is a source of biofuel.
HPCL would hold 74 per cent equity in the JV while 26 per cent will be held by CREDA, which will be responsible for obtaining revenue wasteland for plantation of jatropha from the state government.
The company is to receive the entire crop of jatropha seeds from the 15,000 hectares of land and would produce biodiesel through suitable chemical processes and market it through retailers across the state.
