Ethanol Plant Starts - Second on Hold
US - US company Glacial Lakes Energy, the sole owner of a 100 mgy ethanol plant near Mina, South Dakota, began operations in June.The company also secured a site near Meckling, South Dakota for another ethanol facility for which initial ground work has been completed.
However, CEO Tom Branhan is reported to have put of further development at present although he has said that teh project is still on file.
GLE also owns a grain elevator located in Madison, MN and has secured a site on Hwy 40 near the elevator for a potential ethanol plant as well.
"Mina began grinding corn on June 29, 2008. Start up has gone very well with only minor issues," said a GLE spokesman.
"We are currently performing our seven day performance test and things are looking very good.
"We will ship our first load of ethanol within the next week.
"Our employees are doing an excellent job and learning quickly regarding how to operate the equipment as well as the plant in general. We have set our Grand Opening for 4 September at 11:00 am at the site."
