The Modern Farmer is a Producer of Food and Energy

EU - The demand for energy from renewable resources is larger than ever. Bioenergy is one of the largest growing markets among the sources of renewable energy. In 2007 for example, bioenergy made up 6% of the heating market, and by 2020, the market share should grow to 10% with the use of domestic resources.

The opportunity is growing everyday for the agricultural sector to make an important contribution to satisfying the growing energy demand, helping create new jobs in rural areas and reducing the greenhouse effect, all through the cultivation of renewable resources. Whether for fuel production or for heat or power generation, bioenergy is continually growing as a provider of energy, simply because the advantages of expanding renewable energy cannot be overlooked. Its use does not lead to a German dependency on other states and in addition makes an important contribution to reaching the climate protection goals set by Germany.

In most cases, wood, straw, corn, grain, sugar beets or rapeseeds are used. Currently, bioenergy in Germany accounts for only 2 percent of the primary energy consumption. By 2030, the leap into the double digits could be reached. It will be possible to cover the entire future demand for commodities with the different forms of bioenergy.

For the farmer of the 21st century, renewable energy is nearly impossible to avoid. It is not only possible to produce energy with normal agricultural products, but also utilize waste materials by converting them into useable pellets. One can learn all about what bioenergy can do, which parameters have to be taken into account and what the current state of technology can offer from October 9th-12th at the RENEXPO® 2008 at the Fair and Convention Center Augsburg, Germany. There, farmers and energy producers can inform themselves of the many possibilities of private and commercial energy production and distribution.

The convention will feature, among other things, cogeneration manufacturers, manufacturers of biogas and wood carburetors presenting their newest products and industry trends. There will also be several manufacturers of photovoltaic power plants present.

Along with the trade fair, 13 trade congresses are scheduled to take place. Among them, the conference “Bio-natural Gas from Biogas – Regenerative Energy for the Future”. At this congress, participants will receive an overview of the perspectives, experience and goals of this technology. René Walter from the trade association Biogas e.V. is scheduled to report on the effects of the modernized gas network access regulations and the amended Renewable Energy Law (EEG) on biogas projects. The conference is presented in cooperation with the partners of C.A.R.M.E.N. e.V., the trade association Biogas e.V. as well as erdgas schwaben GmbH, and will take place on Oct. 10th, 2008.

Over the four day conference, approximately 300 exhibitors from over a dozen countries will present visitors with their products and developments. In addition to the trade fair and congress, visitors are also invited to enjoy the cultural outline program.
