Professors, scientists, innovators, executives, politicians, ministers, Nobel Peace Prize winners and other experts and parties interested in climate change and how to tackle it will be meeting in what can be likened to a giant climate technology “speed dating service”. The event, called Copenmind, will be taking place in the Bella Center, Copenhagen, Denmark, from 1-3 September 2008 and will help match creators of climate-friendly technology and knowledge with those that can pursue the ideas and turn them into real life solutions.
The University of Aarhus will be represented by several of its scientists, all of them leading in their field.
Copenmind 2008 is a blend of matchmaking, exhibitions, networking and a conference, all of them with the participation of high-profile people.
Agricultural science at Copenmind
The University of Aarhus will be hosting a scientific seminar with the title “The climate is changing in the favour of bioenergy”. Speakers are from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and include the faculty dean, Just Jensen, together with senior researchers Uffe Jørgensen, Anders Peter Adamsen and Professor Jørgen E. Olesen.
Jørgen Olesen, who is Nobel Peace Prize winner and member of the UN International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), will also be giving a talk entitled “What’s the technological future of farming? – Looking beyond organic farming vs. GMO’s” at the Copenmind panel discussion.
The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences carries out research in several aspects of climate change, including the influence of agriculture on climate change and the effects of climate change on agriculture. With the world’s largest experimental biogas facility at its disposal, the faculty carries out its own studies as well as offering research facilities to companies interested in developing bioenergy technology.
