Print This Page Asia's Largest Solar Power Plant for Nagpur
INDIA - Asia's largest solar power plant is to be established in Nagpur to generate 10 MW electricity for the national grid.According to the Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Vilas Muttemwar while the power from the plant will go to the national grid, it is only "a small step but a big leap for solar energy generation".
The 10 MW solar thermal generation plant will act as a demonstration model for solar energy enthusiasts across the country, he told the Press Trust of India.
Nagpur was chosen for the plant because of high sun radiation as well as its central geographical location.
Mr Muttemwar said his ministry has approached the Maharashtra government for the land, so that the process of setting up the plant could start.
