India Set to Produce 300MW of Biomass Power
INDIA - Five projects with a combined installed capacity of 300MW are being lined up in Punjab. A 68MW facility is on track to be commissioned by the end of this year. After reviewing the progress, Science and Technology minister Bikram Singh Majithia said that the project is at an “advanced stage of completion” and it could be operational by December 2008.
Renewable Energy magazine reports that a second biomass project, initiated by Green Planet Energy Pvt. Ltd, with an anticipated capacity of 140MW would be completed by February 2010. The minister stated that the company will set up facilities in Moga, Jalandhar, Faridkot, Hoshiarpur and Kaputhala district. Green Planet Energy has already signed land lease agreements.
Finally, Turbo Atom TPS Projects Pvt. Ltd. is setting up three projects each with installed capacity of 40MW at Patti, Malerkotla and Ferozepur, bringing the tally for the Punjab region up to over 300MW.
