INDIA - An Indian bioenergy company is shipping its production of biodiesel to the EU and US because it does not yet have the facilities to blend it with traditional petrol and diesel.According to Cleantech, Hyderabad-based Naturol Bioenergy has been shipping biodiesel to the EU and the United States since June and two other Indian biodiesel companies are expected to follow Naturol's lead shortly.
Naturol started to produce biodiesel commercially in April. Its $1.4 billion refinery was the first in the state of Andhra Pradesh and India, located in the eastern port city Kankinada, a special economic zone. It shipped its first 10,000 tonnes (2.6 million gallons) to Europe two months later.
The biodiesel plant can produce 100,000 tonnes of biodiesel a year and uses a palm oil, rapeseed, jatropha, pongamia and vegetable oil, Cleantech says.
