Biomass Power Plant for Avonmouth
UK - Helius Energy is to lease an 18 acre site in the Avonmouth Dock, on the Bristol Channel to build a 100MW biomass power plant.Helius is to submit an application under Section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989 to develop the project and it has said it will enter into a statutory consultation process with relevant authorities and conservation bodies.
The option to lease is exercisable within 48 months, starting on 10 October, for the construction and operation of the biomass plant together with an option to lease an area to build a compound.
The exercise of the option to lease the site from First Corporate Shipping Limited is subject to the securing of consent under section 36 of the Electricity Act and deemed planning permission. The site benefits from quayside access and a commercial agreement for port support from The Bristol Port Company.
John Seed, Managing Director, said: "We are delighted to have secured this highly desirable site for a proposed 100MW Biomass power plant following last month's sale of our 65MW Stallingborough project.
