Print This Page Taiwan to Increase Wind Power
TAIWAN - Taipower is to erect 50 wind turbines to add to the 106 already in operation and 56 under construction.
The project is expected to cost DWT8 billion, or $244 million according to a report on Steelguru.
The new wind farms are part of the country's drive to reduce carbon emissions and the country is now looking at establishing off shore wind farms as well as the on shore turbines.
Wind turbines accounts for just 0.9 per cent of teh country's energy capacity compared 12 per cent from hydro electric power, the report says.
