Gamesa Strengthens Mexican Position
These wind turbines will be destined to the Rumorosa wind farm located in the State of Baja California.
The scope of the above-mentioned agreement includes the supply of the wind turbines, their installation and start-up, as well as their operation and maintenance. Assembly work is expected to be commencing in the second half of 2009.
This agreement, the first attained with this wind energy developer, was reached after Turbo Power Baja Energy was awarded the first phase of an international tender organised by the Baja California State Government. It likewise strengthens Gamesa's position of leadership in the Mexican market, where the company has installed 186 MW since it started up its activities. This figure accounts for most of the installed wind power output in the country.
From an environmental viewpoint, the wind turbine generators Gamesa will supply to the Rumorosa wind farm will contribute towards generating energy supplies that are respectful to the environment by avoiding the emission of pollutants to the atmosphere. More specifically, the annual production of these installations’ 10 MW will replace 2150 tons of petroleum equivalent (TPE) per year and avoid the emission into the atmosphere of 15,000 tons of CO2 a year.
