Biofuels World In Manila Sets Perspective On Regional Mandates and New Feedstocks -- Cassava, Sweet Sorghum, Jatropha

MANILA - BiofuelsWorld gives perspective of regional biofuels mandates from Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan, India and China. Dramatically reshape Jatropha, Biomass, Algae-Lipids Biomass, Sweet Sorghum & Cassava Investments at BiofuelsWorld in Manila.

In light of a global shift towards use of non-traditional feedstocks in biofuel production, Centre for Management Technology is hosting a BiofuelsWorld, and post conference A-Z Algae Biomass Workshop to provide an inside edge on the sustainability of second generation feedstocks in the global biofuels marketplace. Once again supported by Philippine Department of Energy and sponsored by Philippine National Oil Company, BiofuelsWorld looks set to welcome back the 150 over delegates who attended our inaugural event last year.

BiofuelsWorld to be held on 13-14 May 08 at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Manila Philippines, will leverage the expertise on Jatropha, Algae, Sweet Sorghum and Cassava for business and investment needs. It will uncover the potential and the technologies for sustainable ethanol production from these non-traditional feedstocks.

The major thrust in Jatropha research is in agronomy and improving oil quality, yield and disease resistance. As demand for the crop is on the rise, there is also an urgent need to map and understand the changing market dynamics. Jatoil Ltd, famous for their headline grabbing IPO exercise, and Nandan Biomatrix Limited, an ISO 9000 certified company with an annual turnover of $10 Million, have been invited to share their research experiences and capabilities at this meet.

Bronzeoak, on the other hand, will explore how Asia can look into the use of Biomass, a low carbon source of energy, already in used in the US and the UK and proven to bring about create a significant reduction in net carbon emissions when compared with the burning of fossil fuels.

A new addition to the program is the A-Z Algae Biomass Workshop that spotlights on the investment risks and the projected capabilities of Algae, hence providing attendees a head start to their future Algae ventures. Algae's superior attribute virtue of higher oil yield, rapid growth rate and minimal land requirement makes it the darling amongst second generation biofuels feedstocks. Industry giants Shell, Chevron, Boeing and Honeywell have poured in money to start-up Algae research and development and business units to tap on its potential.

BiofuelsWorld also take on a regional perspective on the global biofuels markets, with an in-depth look into countries in Asia including the Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan, India and China who are aggressively pursuing their own Biofuels policies and encouraging investment within their shores.

An update on their government mandates will be presented by PNOC and DOE for Philippines, PetroGreen for Thailand, Nandan BioMatrix for India and Rabobank for China.

Rabobank International was called upon to speak as they play a leading role in financing and the development of the Robeco Clean Tech Private Equity II which will be worth approximately 500 million U.S. dollars

In view of its Ministry of Economic Affairs' announcement on projected 25-fold increase in the consumption of Biodiesel by 2010, Taiwan Celluhols, whose projected production capabilities aims to obtain a tremendous 20 % market share (of the total sales) of E10 ethanol, has been invited to showcase Taiwan's biofuels policy framework and mandate, and feedstock strategies.

Abengoa, the largest ethanol producer in Europe and the second largest in the world, who recently disclosed their plans to produce up to 1.2 million tons of bio-fuels feedstock from cassava crop for its proposed distillery and to generate around 150 million to 200 million liters of bioethanol annually in the Philippines, will be presenting insights on BioEthanol, its sustainability, and Abengoa's strategic ventures in Asia.

BiofuelsWorld is expected to attract industry executives, investors and project financiers who come to get updates on the markets and meet up with the Biofuels community. CMT has again set this platform to connect with the Biofuels fraternity from all over the world.
