Print This Page Indian Biogas Agency Earns Carbon Credit
KOCHI - According to The Hindu, Andhyodaya, a non-government agency working in the field of promoting water management and non-conventional energy and social development recently organised a meet of farmers at Angamaly and distributed the first installment of the biogas carbon credit.At a press conference, the executive director of the agency, Peter Thettayil, said that the carbon credit is being provided with the assistance of Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) in North America.
The CCX works in the field of a trading green house gases (GHGs) emission reduction. The carbon credit system was introduced following the Kyoto Protocol.
Andhyodaya has helped construct 15,000 biogas plants in the state and earned carbon credit through the CCX.
