Promethean Opens Biodiesel Plant

US - A new cooperative refinery is to start production in Temecula, California, converting used cooking oils into quality methyl esters.

Promethean Biofuels Cooperative Corpwill be holding a grand opening ceremony on 19 February.

According to a report in Biodiesel Magazine, most of Promethean’s new facility is made of repurposed or reused material.

The 17,000-sq.-ft. plant is next to a community recycling facility, which the co-op said helped during the plant construction and allows a place for consumers to drop off used cooking oils and other recyclables.

The plant was designed as a chemical blending and off-specification product reworking facility, the report says.

Its biodiesel production process uses alternating high temperature and high pressure, and employs a deep-vacuum process. Its fuel production is batch with continuous purification.
