100,000 Hectares of Land Available for Biofuel Production

BOCA CHICA - The National Energy Commission's (CNE) president Arístides Fernandez Zucco yesterday said that the Dominican Republic has nearly 100,000 uncultivated hectares of land available with a potential to produce biofuels.

Fernandez Zucco said the Government works for the country to produce ethanol and biodiesel “at an industrial scale” this year, in view of the rise in oil prices, reports Dominican Today.

Fernandez Zucco spoke on the topic as part of the 3rd Latin American and Caribbean Seminar on Biofuels inaugurated yesterday in the hotel Hamaca, activity which concludes today.
