Print This Page Joint Venture to Produce Jatropha-Based Biodiesel
MOZAMBIQUE - Canada and Mozambique, in a joint venture, plan to invest US $150 in a jatropha-based biodiesel project.Odevez will grow jatropha on some 70,000 hectares (172,974 acres) of land in the districts of Barue and Gondola in Manica province and Buzi in Sofala province, a Fernando Azevedo, a company director told reporters in Maputo.
According to Energy Current, the company also plans to set up a biodiesel plant in Dondo, Sofala province. Biodiesel produced at the plant will primarily be used to meet local needs and for exports to the U.S. and Europe.
